LGBT people played a key role in Ukraine’s Euromaidan revolution; they were also among the first to be targeted by the Russian occupation in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. This forum features Ukrainian human rights activist Anna Dovgopol speaking about the current situation of LGBT people in Ukraine and the state of feminist and queer activism in Ukraine in 2015, followed by a sneak preview of the 2015 documentary “This Is Gay Propaganda: LGBT Rights & the War in Ukraine” by Toronto filmmaker Marusya Bociurkiw which follows the progress of the Euromaidan revolution, and the Russian invasion that followed, from the perspective of LGBT Ukrainians.
