Presented by TMU writing expert Meera Govindasamy, this workshop teaches participants to think critically about the colonial expectations of academic writing, while generating approaches to writing and digital activism that foreground social justice.

Meera Govindasamy is an educator and activist writer and researcher from Toronto. She is presently the Academic Engagement Specialist in Toronto Metropolitan University’s Student Life and Learning Support department. From 2019 to 2021 Meera was the Co-Director of the Studio for Media Activism and Critical Thought, an activist research center at the university.  Meera holds an MA in Communication and Culture from the joint program at Toronto Metropolitan and York university, and a BAH in Sociology from Queen’s University. In her free time, Meera enjoys watching, theorizing, and writing about reality TV.
